GOLD COAST, Australia - When the new restaurant, Salt grill by Luke Mangan, opens its doors at Hilton Surfers Paradise on Wednesday 14 September, guests should be prepared for a little bit of the unexpected.

Leading Australian restaurateur and celebrity chef Luke Mangan’s latest venture is set to be a fashionable, urban restaurant where Luke and his team will be delivering contemporary Australian food using the finest and freshest ingredients, sourced locally.

The restaurant itself has a large open plan kitchen allowing guests to interact with the Chefs and see their meals being prepared right in front of their eyes, a spectacular wine room and three separate dining zones that each have their own unique feel and distinguishing features.

Open for breakfast, lunch and dinner, Salt grill is stylish, yet oozes casual sophistication with its burnt red leather booths, large circular windows and a feature panel of silver hanging beads, which create a spectacular opaque screen.

“It will be an ambient space where locals, foodies and visitors can feel relaxed and comfortable, yet indulgent at the same time,” says Mangan. “Choosing the Gold Coast to open my new restaurant made perfect sense to me as Hilton, Surfers Paradise is an ideal location and I can’t wait to show the Gold Coast my own rendition of contemporary Australian food.”

Luke’s food is simple and uncomplicated, yet full of flavour. The Salt grill menu will feature his signature Hiramasa Kingfish Sashimi with Persian feta, ginger and eschallot dressing, which continues to receive rave reviews at The Palace in Melbourne and glass brasserie in Sydney.

It also offers a tantalising selection of oysters, tapas, charcuterie, salads, entrees, mains and sides, as well as meat and fresh fish served straight from the grill and a number of ‘mains to share’ including Barramundi with Asian greens and crab stir fry.

With dishes that reflect Luke’s classical French training and Asian influences, restaurant patrons are set to be pleasantly surprised when they experience the unique combination of delicious unpretentious fine dining cuisine, affordable prices and an atmosphere that is chic, playful and creative.
According to Luke the menu caters for all tastes.

“If you want a steak or fish and chips, we can give you that and if you have a taste for champagne and caviar we will also meet that need.” Another of Luke’s signatures that will be introduced to Gold Coast diners for the first time is his famous Liquorice Parfait with lime syrup and tuile.
“It’s a perfect way to top off any meal,” says Mangan.
