Carribean Watersports at the Key Largo Grande Offers Newest Watersport That Has Guests “Walking on Water”

Hotel offers package to explore Florida Keys

October 20, 2009

KEY LARGO, Fla. -  A new craze in watersports has popped up at the Key Largo Grande Resort & Beach Club, A Hilton Resort offering guests a "tuna tower" view of the Florida Keys. One of the fastest growing watersports in the world, stand up paddleboard (SUP) is a user friendly sport that combines kayaking, surfing and canoeing.

Gliding through the Florida Keys on a SUP is becoming a new phenomenon. At the Key Largo Grande, Caribbean Watersports, Ltd offers adventurers a "walk on water' experience letting one explore the shallow waters of Florida Bay while getting a great workout. Nature lovers will love gliding over the crystal clear sea grass filled bay standing on a board that resembles a surfboard while using a paddle to help guide through the water.

"SUP's are fun and easy to use and typically only takes a short time to learn how to balance, paddle straight, and take a short cruise along the shore." said Darrell McCullough, Caribbean Watersports Director. "The beach at the Key Largo Grande offers a unique opportunity to try SUP's as the shore is generally on the calm side of Key Largo on Florida Bay which has a depth of only 5' to 7'. The saltwater portion of the Everglades National Park starts only 3/4ths of a mile from the swim area making it a great way to view the magnificent sea life the Keys have to offer."

The hotel is offering a watersports package for guests to take advantage of this new phenomenon and experience the beauty of the Florida Keys. The Key Largo Watersports package ranges from $149 per room per night to $439 per room per night based on availability and room type and includes*:
