BATON ROUGE, La. -  On August 30th, the renovations of the historic Heidelberg and Capitol House Hotel will be complete and the doors will open to a new era of business and leisure travelers. What was once the social gathering place for the Capital City, the new Hilton Baton Rouge Capitol Center will once again be a magnet for downtown Baton Rouge.

The largest private redevelopment project in the history of the city will unfold on August 30th after many years of work with a celebration fit for the Kingfish himself. This historic hotel, sited on the banks of the Mississippi River, offers spectacular views of the river and city and the finest dining and lounge in the region. It's too bad Huey Long's not around for his 113th birthday this year, because one of his old stomping grounds is throwing him a huge party!

The festivities will begin at 6:00 pm with a ribbon cutting ceremony in the hotel's lobby, while each guest will cut their own ribbon as they check in to their guest room. Huey Long's Great-Grandson, Baton Rouge Attorney, Russell Long Mosely, will lead the LSU Pep Band and Golden Girls in front of the hotel on Lafayette Street to celebrate the rebirth!

Model-T cars will welcome guest as flapper girls take them on guided tours of the hotel. Cigar girls will be offering special hotel insignia souvenir cigars and Lee Michaels' has designed a special Kingfish pin and Cuff Links to commemorate the occasion. These items are sure to be collector's most prized catch!

The Buddy Boudreaux dance band that originally played in the hotel will once again entertain guest in the 10th floor Heidelberg Ballroom. Big Luther Kent and Trick bag will perform in the Riverview Ballroom.

In the future the hotel will be the home of the LSU Sunday Night Live Show, Sunday Brunch, High tea, Hi-tini, many weddings, conventions, meetings, and the most elaborate New Year's Eve Celebration in town! So dust your dancing shoes, and get them ready, the Heidelberg/Capitol House ~ Hilton Capitol Center is back!!!
