Hilton Brisbane Invests $13 Million For A Facelift
In Celebration Of 25th Anniversary, Hotel To Undergo Complete Refurbishment To Attract Both New And Old Guests

BRISBANE, Australia - In a style befitting the occasion, Hilton Brisbane will splash out on a complete refurbishment to celebrate its silver anniversary.
In one of the single biggest investments made by any of Brisbane's CBD hotels, Hilton Brisbane will spend more than A$13 million this year alone, upgrading every aspect of its facilities in a strategic move to attract both the corporate and tourism dollar. Celebrating its 25th anniversary this year, Hilton Brisbane has invested more than $37 million since 2005 into its site bordering Queen Street Mall and Elizabeth Street in Brisbane's CBD.
Hilton Brisbane general manager Martin Kendall said the extensive refurbishment was aimed at re-engaging customers to ensure Hilton Brisbane was top of mind when deciding where to stay.
"We are one of the most centrally located, five-star hotel in the city and now with a revitalisation of the entire property, we will have one of the most up-to-date product available in the marketplace, making us extremely competitive.
"The extensive renovations began in January 2011 and upon completion in October will feature 319 upgraded deluxe and executive rooms, a new flagship restaurant and state-of-the-art business centre with three new boardrooms, a refurbished Below7 lounge and reinvigorated Porte-cochere entrance which will feature Brisbane's biggest video wall with a three metre by five metre digital display, showcasing everything from electronic artwork to Google maps," he said.
Hilton Brisbane was originally designed by one of the founders of modernist design in Australia, Harry Seidler, and Mr Kendall said acclaimed designer Mark Landini would be responsible for the refurbishment while still strongly communicating Mr Seidler's original vision.
"This is the only hotel Harry Seidler designed in Australia and although Mark Landini is very excited to be re-creating some of Mr Seidler's original plans he will definitely be putting his own stamp on the project through the design of a signature restaurant and bar, as well as an ultra-modern business centre," he said.
Landini Associates Creative Director Mark Landini said Brisbane is currently Australia's most progressive city and an attribute he endeavoured to reflect by creating a truly modern design. "We are looking to create a world class experience for the guests of the hotel by focusing on simplicity and longevity in everything we do, steering away from fashion for a classic solution that lasts, which is also in tune with Modernism and Seidler's work," he said.
All 319 hotel rooms have received a significant upgrade and were on 30 August. There is a marked increase in Executive category rooms, Hilton's core business product, from 75 to 114 rooms to service increased demand for this room type. Mr Kendall said a key pillar of the refurbishment would be a $2million investment into a new signature restaurant which would continue Hilton Brisbane's long-term commitment, showcasing Queensland's world-class produce and culinary expertise.
"An aged meat cabinet, extensive wine room and multiple private dining options will all be key features of the new standalone restaurant, which is scheduled to open in October."
