Hilton Capitol Center Celebrates it’s 2nd Anniversary By Unveiling Extensive Art Collection In Partnership With Brunner Gallery
October 07, 2008
BATON ROUGE, La. - Hilton Capitol Center, formerly the Heidelberg and Capitol House Hotel will celebrate its second anniversary on October 8th, from 5 - 7pm. In celebration of the success the hotel has experienced in its first two years, Brunner Gallery and the Hilton have partnered to create a visual walking tour of their art collection. Hotel visitors will enjoy an immersive experience which reflects the hotel's historical and cultural environment, and highlights both emerging and established contemporary visual artists. Brunner Gallery has recently displayed over $100,000 of additional art for purchase throughout the gallery of the hotel in addition to its original collection
Hotel guest can grab a glass of wine and take their own self-guided art walk through the hotel. Some of the local artists on display are, Simone Burke, Gary Noel, Tony Mose, and Rick Brunner. "We are thrilled at the art addition in the hotel. It is an exciting amenity for our guest as well as the Baton Rouge community," said Camm Morton of Ashby Hospitality.
"In addition to the walking tour Brunner Gallery will feature original paintings by selected artists on-site in the hotel, further enhancing the cultural experience for the hotel visitor. The paintings will be available for sale to anyone visiting the hotel through Brunner Gallery at The Shaw Center for the Arts", said Susan Brunner of Brunner Gallery.
Brunner Gallery has locations in Covington, La. and The Shaw Center of the Arts here in Baton Rouge.
During the first two years of operation the hotel has hosted numerous conventions, social functions, weddings and business travelers alike. The Kingfish restaurant has become a local favorite!
The hotel was formerly known as The Heidelberg and Capitol House hotel and reopened its doors on August 30th 2006, for the Historical Foundation of Louisiana's Annual Gala after undergoing $70 million in renovations. The hotel has been accepted as one of National Trust for Historic Preservation as one of the Historical Hotels of America.
