Hilton Cardiff Supports LATCH With Pedal Power

CARDIFF, U.K. - Staff at Hilton Cardiff have raised over £1,200 for Welsh children's cancer charity, LATCH, with their annual Around The World in a Day event.

The team at Hilton Cardiff held an endurance challenge for a gruelling seven hours with over 20 members of staff taking turns on exercise bikes and a cross trainer at the hotel. In addition to the endurance challenge there was a table-top sale, a tea and cake stall and a nail bar manned by beauticians from the hotel's LivingWell health club.

The money will go towards the purchase of a new wheelchair, which will allow children who are no longer strong enough to walk to still enjoy fun days out with their families.

Marie Fagan, general manager of Hilton Cardiff, said, "The new state-of-the-art wheelchair will allow LATCH to improve on the fantastic support it already offers brave young cancer sufferers and their families in South Wales. We're pleased to be able to make a significant contribution towards its cost and would like to thank everyone who kindly sponsored the team or donated on the day."

Around the World in a Day is an annual continental Europe-wide event organised by Hilton in the Community Foundation, the official charity of Hilton Worldwide in Europe. Hotel team members from more than 100 hotels across eleven countries worked together with charity partners and members of the public for this year's event in support of more than 60 different charities, which support disadvantaged children and young people in the areas of health and education. The idea of the event is to virtually and collectively travel over 40,075.16 kilometres, the circumference of the earth, whilst collecting sponsorship money for kilometres clocked.
