GLASGOW, UK -  Twelve of Hilton Glasgow's most talented chefs have competed in a gruelling live cook-off as part of the 27th Scottish Culinary Championships at ScotHot 2009 in Glasgow's SECC.

The team from Hilton Glasgow on William Street have swept the board taking a staggering twelve prestigious medals and four merit certificates across categories such as pasta dishes, lamb challenge and shellfish. The chefs competed against hundreds of their peers from around the globe in a fiercely competitive championship taking more than twice as many awards as their nearest competitors.

James Murphy, executive chef at Hilton Glasgow and former winner of Executive Chef of the Year award at the CIS Excellence Awards 2006 said: "ScotHot provides a great platform for Scottish chefs to showcase their skills to their peers and it has been a phenomenal three days for the Hilton Glasgow team.

"Our chefs have really shone; winning 12 medals and four merits against such stiff competition is a great achievement and we're absolutely thrilled.

"We invest a lot of time training and developing young people coming through the industry, honing their skills to bring out the best of their talent. These awards are recognition of their efforts and will act as a perfect springboard for many of them to continue successful careers in catering."

Hilton Glasgow is renowned for its exceptional cuisine. Host of many of the major award ceremonies in Scotland in its banqueting suite, Hilton Glasgow boasts over 300 luxurious guest rooms and it's very own New York style brasserie, Minsky's as well as contemporary Scottish restaurant, Camerons.

Over 250 exhibitors from the food and drink, catering and interiors sectors took part in ScotHot 2009 offering products, services and tastings to visitors. The exhibition also included practical food demonstrations for chefs, wine tastings for sommeliers, bar techniques for budding flairers as well as seminars and competitions.
