HONOLULU -  Hilton Hawaiian Village Waikiki Beach Resort's premier outdoor luau, Waikiki Starlight Luau, debuted recent upgrades including new, dynamic show numbers, a mural designed by renowned Hawaii artist Kahi Ching and facility enhancements including a new show area and tiki thatched huts for activities and musicians.

"The Waikiki Starlight Luau continues to be one of the top experiences that we offer at our resort for guests, locals and other visitors to Oahu," said Tracy Walker, general manager, Hilton Hawaiian Village Waikiki Beach Resort. "We continue to look for ways to better our resort, activities and offerings for an enhanced experience for our guests and local
residents."

"A Voyage Across The South Seas"
Hilton's Waikiki Starlight Luau takes guests on an exhilarating voyage across the South Seas in celebration of Polynesian music and dance. From the mesmerizing Otea of Tahiti to the graceful Hawaiian hula to the rhythmic Maori dances of New Zealand, the show embraces the audience from its start to its exciting climax, an unprecedented four-man Samoan fireknife dance.

The show opens with a new Te Ava Mo‘a Kahiko performance depicting the famous ocean pass navigated by Tahiti Nui before settling in Hawaii. The ancient hula is accompanied by the vibrant drum dances of Tahiti. Next, Otea/Hina-the exquisite woman of the moon-is honored through authentic Tahitian dance followed by Tonga where one of the oldest surviving dances in all Polynesia, Me‘etupaki, is celebrated. Other new numbers include Si Fe‘e celebrating Samoa, Aloha O‘ahu Implement Hula and Maori, which includes dance forms such as twirling the poi and the haka.

Napo‘o ‘Ana o ka Lā (Sunset)
Mural artist Kahi Ching's sunset illustration provides vivid supplemental imagery enhancing the overall luau experience. Venturing into different mediums of art including painting, ceramics, and wood sculpting, Ching's philosophy that one does not need to conform to the notion of conventional art, promoting the idea that art comes from within and is an expression of oneself. Through the work of Ching's mural, audience members are able to see another interpretation of the journey made by Hawaii's ancestors.
