Overall, the recycling projects undertaken by Hilton Beirut Habtoor Grand and Hilton Beirut Metropolitan Palace have been a tremendous success with over $253,000 in cumulative savings.

Throughout the past year, Hilton Hotels in Beirut sustainability initiatives included: community service with 87 donations amounting to a total of $47,570 and around 78,500 hours of volunteer work; energy saving projects whereby four generators were replaced with newer, more efficient models generating an annual saving of $230,000, and water saving devices were installed into the faucets and showers in all guestrooms generating an annual saving of $23,000; recycling initiatives, with around 2,450 kilograms of paper and 460 kilograms of plastic recycled; and strategic NGO collaborations with Arc en Ciel, Lebanese Food Bank, Bassma, St Rita Church Parish, Caritas and Barouk Cedars Reserve, among others.

"Sustainability is an increasing focus across our hotels and is critical to the operations of our business", said Naif Zureikat, cluster general manager of Hilton Hotels in Beirut. "LightStay™ provides us with a global platform to respond to the challenges of managing natural resource constraints, and we are dedicated to empowering our teams with tools that improve economic and sustainability performance at all levels of our properties", he continued.

Hilton Worldwide's efforts to continuously improve its economic and sustainability performance align with the company's commitment to Travel with Purpose to create shared value for its business and communities around the world. Launched in 2011, Travel with Purpose is built on four areas of focus - creating opportunities for individuals to reach their full potential; strengthening communities where we operate; celebrating cultures and the power of travel; and living sustainably through the measurement, analysis and improvement of our use of natural resources.
