FRANKFURT -  Hilton Hotels Corporation will open two hotels of the Hilton family at Frankfurt Airport in April 2010. The Hilton Frankfurt Airport with 248 rooms and the Hilton Garden Inn Frankfurt Airport with 334 rooms are being built as part of the prestigious Airrail Center. This is the first time in Europe that a Hilton and a Hilton Garden Inn Hotel are to be opened in the same building.

The two hotels, the interior architecture of which is the responsibility of JOI Design GmbH in Hamburg, will be located in the Airrail Center Frankfurt, above the long-distance ICE railway station. The hotels are part of a complex comprising offices, shops, restaurants, conference and business centres and parking space.

Ian Carter, Chief Executive Hilton International, on the project: "Frankfurt is an outstanding, high-grade location in Europe. The Hilton Frankfurt Airport and the Hilton Garden Inn Frankfurt Airport hotels are of great strategic significance for Hilton. This is the first time in Europe that Hilton has opened a Hilton and a Hilton Garden Inn at the same place. With the new hotels immediately next door to each other, Hilton has the opportunity to serve two kinds of guest - visitors to the airport and the city."

The two Hilton hotels generate numerous synergies, e.g., the fitness centre and the swimming pool of the Hilton will also be open to guests of the Hilton Garden Inn. The 500 square-metre ballroom of the Hilton Frankfurt Airport can also be used for events of the Hilton Garden Inn.

The Airrail Center is a building with spectacular, futuristic architecture. Designed as a ‘horizontal skyscraper', the building - 600 metres long and 65 metres wide - runs parallel to the motorway. Covering a total of 13,000 square metres, atriums with impressive landscaping will ensure a pleasant atmosphere. An ultra-modern business and conference centre, a medical centre and a large selection of shops and restaurants will make the Airrail Center a focal point of attraction for the whole region.

Terminal 1 of Frankfurt Airport is only five minutes walk from the Airrail Center. The building has its own ICE railway station with 171 long-distance trains a day, 131 of them ICE connections. Additionally, the Airrail Center will have a direct link to the ‘Frankfurter Kreuz' motorway interchange. Frankfurt city centre is only 15 minutes away by train or car. There will be parking for 600 cars in the building itself plus other car parks within easy walking distance.

Hilton Hotels Corporation currently operates 14 Hilton and Hilton Garden Inn hotels in Germany, one of them in Frankfurt city centre.
