Hilton Reading Opening Its Doors To Become 80th Hotel In UK And Ireland

LONDON -  Hilton Hotels Corporation has opened the doors of its latest new hotel in the UK & Ireland region, Hilton Reading, bringing the total number of hotels in the region to more than 80.

The 210-bedroom hotel, less than ten minutes from the town centre and part of the major redevelopment of south-west Reading, is one of several hotels the company is opening in Britain this year, as it continues its worldwide growth through the Hilton Family of Hotels.

Built in a contemporary style and continuing the ‘New Face of Hilton' theme, the hotel is aimed at capitalising on the growing number of business travellers using the Thames Valley, plus leisure guests visiting local attractions such as Windsor Castle, Legoland and the Madejski Stadium - which is within walking distance.

One of the most striking features of the hotel is the 24 ft chandelier which hangs prominently in the foyer. Guests can also enjoy events in the hotel's 800 capacity ballroom which Hilton believes will become one of the most sought after venues in Reading - for awards ceremonies, weddings, launch parties and gala dinners.

The Livingwell leisure facility is one of the company's largest in the UK and includes a state-of-the-art Fitness by Precor gym, 12.5m swimming pool plus sauna and steam room.

The Larder restaurant, being run by new executive chef David Hanlon, serves contemporary British cuisine using many fresh, locally sourced ingredients. The 140 seat K Bar is located just off the lobby, serving fine wine, beers and sensational beverages*.

Among the 210 rooms are 50 deluxe rooms, two junior suites, 22 family rooms and 10 fully accessible rooms. All feature digital interactive entertainment systems, individually controlled air conditioning, wireless and high speed internet access plus an electronic mini bar.

The hotel has been developed by Real Estate Investment Managers, PRUPIM. Stephen Tully, the company's Director of Development, commented: "The hotel is expected to be a catalyst for regeneration and a welcome amenity for both visitors and local people. It is good for Hilton, good for Reading, and good for PRUPIM's strategy of delivering long term returns from our significant investments southwest of Reading."

The hotel is part of the planned Southside scheme, which has planning permission for over 850,000 sq ft of B1 accommodation, 1,150 homes and associated retail, leisure and associated uses.

Room rates at the hotel will range from £89 to £199 for guestrooms and £189 to £299 for suites**.

Hilton Reading is the first Hilton branded hotel the company has opened in the UK since the hugely successful Manchester Deansgate in 2006, with further openings scheduled in the next 18 months at Syon Park, London, and Heathrow T5. The property joins a global portfolio of more than 3,300 hotels across the Hilton Family of Hotels which incorporates 12 distinct brands.
