Hilton Returns To Bogota With Second Hotel In Colombia

BEVERLY HILLS - Hilton Hotels Corporation announces plans to open a $27 million first-class hotel in Bogota, Colombia's capital and largest city. The 245-guestroom Hilton Bogota is scheduled for completion in mid-2009 and will be Hilton's second hotel in Colombia.

The hotel will be developed by shareholders in Sociedad Operadora 72 Gran Hotel, S.A., and will ultimately be owned by Fideicomiso de Administracion y Pagos 72 Gran Hotel, a Colombian trust entity. Hilton Hotels Corporation will operate the hotel under the terms of a multi-year management agreement as part of its expansion efforts in Latin America.

The hotel marks Hilton's return to the capital after 17 years, and will include a restaurant with direct street access, lobby bar for guests of legal drinking age, fitness center, close to 10,000 sq. ft. of meeting space, and 200 parking spaces. The site, located in the heart of the financial district, is just 20 minutes from El Dorado International Airport, and walking distance from downtown, shopping malls, theatres, museums, embassies, and the convention center.

Bogota, the most populated city in Colombia with seven million residents, is also known for its rich culture and majestic location within the Andes, 2,640 meters above sea level. Visitors can also enjoy the average 60° temperature in this pedestrian and cyclist-friendly city.
