Hilton Rotterdam Announces Partnership With Acclaimed Chef Mario Ridder

ROTTERDAM, Netherlands - Through an exclusive partnership with acclaimed restaurateur Mario Ridder, owner of two Michelin-starred restaurant De Zwethheul, Hilton Rotterdam has lifted its culinary position to a new dimension.

Today, an intentional agreement was signed for the establishment of a new restaurant in Hilton Rotterdam. Ridder and his team will move to the heart of Rotterdam to create a new culinary environment with an international reputation. Ridder, said, "My ultimate dream comes true with this new restaurant where I can realize all my culinary ambitions."

Joelia by Mario, a modern restaurant with an international reputation, will open its doors in January 2015. The concept is tailored to gourmet dining with a range of menu options to suit different occasions. Classic simplicity, elegance and a fusion of the best ingredients will be the key features of Ridder's well-known style.

Ridder said, "I am pleased to have this opportunity to run a restaurant in one of the best locations in Rotterdam. As a team, we will continue to perform at the highest culinary level and present the finest wines to our customers, the only difference will be a new restaurant setting."

Hilton Rotterdam is the first Hilton hotel in the Benelux to work with a chef of a Michelinstarred restaurant. The announcement follows strong cooperation between Hilton Worldwide and the restaurant development team to build on successful restaurant partnerships.

The new restaurant will complete the full range of food and beverage options in Hilton Rotterdam, together with the urban all-day dining Stadshal Bar & Restaurant and the newly designed Cocktail bar due to open in November.

Mario Ridder's culinary career began at the famous 3*restaurant of Chef Cees Helder in Rotterdam. He then started to work at restaurant the Zwethheul in Schipluiden (near the city of Delft), where he surprised everyone in the culinary world by the achievement of earning two Michelin stars within a time period of seven months. In 2009 he took over the Zwethheul and in 2013 he started with his partner a second restaurant, CEO-baas van het vlees in Rotterdam – featuring meet only.
