Hilton Seychelles Celebrates The 2016 World Wide ‘Goût de France’ Gastronomic Event
March 11, 2016
SEYCHELLES - On 21st March 2016, Hilton Seychelles Labriz and Northolme Resort & Spa, will host the 'Goût de France' event for the second year running, joining over 1,500 restaurants worldwide welcoming guests to enjoy and celebrate French cuisine.
The Goût de France event consists of "1,500 chefs & 1,500 menus," and is the second annual celebration of French cuisine's 2010 listing in the "Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity" category by UNESCO.
Chef Sharkey at Hilton Seychelles Northolme Resort & Spa and Chef Sedano at Hilton Seychelles Labriz Resort & Spa have created two differing tasting menus showcasing the historical French roots of the Seychelles, honouring traditional French cuisine through combining modern presentation with indulgent ingredients, served in the breath-taking tropical setting of Hilton Seychelles Northolme Resort & Spa and Hilton Seychelles Labriz Resort & Spa.
These beautifully crafted, bespoke menus draw inspiration from classic French culinary ingredients like truffles, cheeses and foie gras, while taking inspiration from local flavours like chilli, rum and mango to create a modern edge to traditional recipes. The Northolme menu starts with cheese profiteroles, moving on to coquille St Jacques, local scallops with a chilli and mango puree, French onion soup, fillet of beef with truffled potato, seared foie gras with home-made brioche, finishing with a cheese selection and traditional crepe Suzette. At Labriz diners can enjoy salt cod brandade, followed by pan-fried foie gras with mango chutney and local rhum arrangé, pancetta-wrapped monkfish with fresh vegetables and concluding with a cheese board and warm chocolate fondant with salted caramel sauce and purple basil ice-cream.
Guests can enjoy these Goût de France menus served under Seychellois skies at Les Cocotiers restaurant in Hilton Seychelles Northolme Report & Spa while looking out on to timeless Beau Vallon Bay. This unique French dining experience is open to all patrons of the resort for free to guests on Half Board, and at 995SCR for guests on room only or bed and breakfast packages.
Over on Silhoutte Island, at Hilton Seychelles Labriz Resort & Spa the chic lakeside Portobello and dramatic views of Mount Dauban provide the perfect backdrop for this degustation experience. Available for 1,200SCR for all guests of the resort.
Claus Steiner, cluster general manager, Hilton Seychelles Hotels, commented on the resorts' continued involvement with this event: 'Hilton Seychelles is excited to be involved in this unique cultural and culinary event for the second year running and looks forward to allowing guests to experience the finest in French cuisine, surrounded by the beauty of the Seychelles.'
