Hilton Signs Hotel In Sicily

MCLEAN, VA., LONDON and ROME - Hilton Hotels Corporation (HHC) announces today the signing of a franchise agreement with Russott Finance Spa to convert a full service, upscale hotel in the seaside resort of Giardini Naxos, Sicily to a Hilton brand hotel. Scheduled to complete its rebranding in 2010, the Hilton Giardini Naxos will become Hilton's fourth property on the island.
Welcoming today's announcement, Patrick Fitzgibbon Senior Vice President Development for Hilton Hotels, said: "Italy, and in particular Sicily, is proving to be a very successful market for us as we continue to roll out our Family of Hotels across the region. The Russott Hotel is a fantastic property and we are delighted to be working with Russott Finance to convert this hotel to our flagship brand. We are confident that with the strength of our Hilton brand, combined with the global reach of our powerful sales, marketing and distribution networks, Hilton Giardini Naxos will raise the benchmark for upscale accommodation on the island."

Occupying a prime beachfront location, Hilton Giardini Naxos will enjoy panoramic views across the Ionian Sea. The hotel has recently undergone an extensive refurbishment and when it opens under the Hilton brand, will offer a total of 296 guestrooms, including 33 suites, and two full service restaurants and bars. As part of the rebranding programme, the property will also include a new spa and fitness centre with swimming pool and an executive lounge. For business guests, the property will be one of the Sicily's largest conference and meeting venues with 11 Hilton meeting rooms - the largest of which will accommodate 950 delegates.
Situated on Sicily's eastern coast between the cities of Messina and Catania, Giardini Naxos has become one of the island's most popular tourist resorts, thanks to its blend of sandy beaches, historic architecture and vibrant mix of restaurants and bars. Other nearby attractions include Mount Etna volcano and the picturesque town of Taormina.

Hilton offers hotels in more countries than any other full service hotel brand. More than 520 Hilton hotels operate in 76 countries and the brand plans to serve 78 countries around the world by the end of 2009.
HHC currently manages and franchises a total of 15 hotels in Italy across seven locations and four brands. In Sicily, the company has two hotels, including Hilton Villa Igiea Palermo and the recently opened Excelsior Hilton Palermo. Hilton Des Palmes Palermo is expected to open in 2010.
