Hotel Albany Appoints John D’Adamo As New General Manager

Former General Manager of The Desmond Hotel & Conference Center Joins Downtown Albany Hotel in Anticipation of Official Brand Transition to Hilton

ALBANY, N.Y. - Hotel Albany, an affiliate of Hilton Hotel & Resorts, today announced the appointment of John D'Adamo as general manager of the property. In his role, D'Adamo will be responsible for achieving optimal guest satisfaction and general oversight of the hotel's daily operations.

D'Adamo brings more than 25 years of experience in the hospitality industry to his role at Hotel Albany, including five years as the general manager of The Desmond Hotel & Conference Center in Albany.

D'Adamo joins Hotel Albany as the property enters final preparations for its official transition to the Hilton Hotel & Resorts brand in March. The 385-room hotel on State Street is the area's largest hotel and has been undergoing a $14 million renovation, which includes more than 30,000 square feet of function space.

During his time at The Desmond Hotel & Conference Center, D'Adamo introduced the service and standards that earned the Scrimshaw Restaurant a Four Diamond award from AAA, the only restaurant in the Capital Region to currently hold this distinction. He did the same for Orchids, the restaurant at Hilton Cincinnati Netherland Plaza, which also received a Four Diamond award under his stewardship.

Overall, D'Adamo has been associated with seven "Four Diamond" facilities throughout his career, including as general manager of the Lakeview Golf Resort and Spa in Morgantown, WV, and assistant general manager of Hilton Cincinnati Netherland Plaza.

Now in its final stages of renovations, Hotel Albany recently erected Hilton signage in preparation for the official transition. The tastefully-appointed upgrades, which are found only at the newest full service Hilton hotels, are anticipated to strengthen the property's standing as a key component to increasing downtown Albany's draw among large groups, business travelers and tourists.

The hotel's guest rooms have been completed with upgrades that include new furniture, fixtures, and bathrooms. The extensive renovation work throughout the property will be virtually completed by the time the hotel is officially a part of the Hilton Hotel & Resorts banner, including the main entrance, lobby, restaurant, parking garage, pool, fitness center and other common areas. The renovations, which Turner Construction began in June 2012, are being modeled after the latest Hilton design concepts.
