READING, UK -  Located in the recently opened Hilton Reading hotel, The Larder Restaurant is the latest edition to Reading's bustling food scene, serving contemporary British and international cuisine using a majority of fresh, locally sourced ingredients.

Newly appointed Executive chef, David Hanlon, has almost 20 years experience and is responsible for inventing the restaurant's rustic yet modern menu. Born in Northern Ireland, David most recently worked with Thistle Hotels, winning its Chef of the Year award.

David has created dishes such as Smoked haddock fish cakes with soft poached egg, pea purée and tartar cream and Duck Liver parfait on toasted brioche with fig compote to start, followed by main courses including Wild boar burger, bacon, gruyère cheese, chunky chips and tomato relish and crispy sea-bass fillet with wilted spinach and lobster mash. Desserts range from Raspberry crème brûlée to Sticky toffee pudding with toffee sauce.

Speaking about the inspiration behind his menu, David said: "I want guests to feel comfortable with rustic dishes that are expertly cooked with an imaginative and contemporary twist. I've designed the menu to offer both rich, earthy dishes such as the Wild Boar Burger, but also light and fresh alternatives such as the Sea Bass. I'll be developing the menu to suit each season and I hope in time The Larder will gain a reputation as one of Reading's destination restaurants."

The Larder restaurant welcomes both business and leisure diners and guests can enjoy a glass of fine wine from the extensive selection on offer. The restaurant continues the natural theme that is present throughout the hotel, decorated in warm green and brown tones with large woodland images.

Situated next to The Larder restaurant, the relaxed K Bar is the perfect spot for a mid-afternoon specialist coffee, an expertly mixed cocktail or late evening nightcap. David Hanlon also overseas K Bar's delicious lunch and bar snack menu.

For guests looking to host larger events, David also oversees all banqueting in the hotel's 800 capacity ballroom, which Hilton believes will become one of the most sought after venues in Reading - for awards ceremonies, weddings, launch parties and gala dinners.

Hilton Reading is located less than ten minutes from the town centre and is part of the major redevelopment of south-west Reading. The Larder restaurant is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner, every day of the week. Reservations can be made by calling 0118 916 9000.
