Joseph Zitnik Appointed General Manager Of Hilton Shanghai Hongqiao

SHANGHAI - Hilton Shanghai Hongqiao announces the appointment of Joseph Zitnik as General Manager of Hilton Shanghai Hongqiao, with effect on 1 July 2014. Mr Zitnilk, who joined Hilton Worldwide in 2012, will report to Bruce McKenzie, the company's senior vice president operations for Greater China & Mongolia.

Mr. McKenzie said he believes Mr Zitnik's extensive experience in the hospitality industry "will ensure that Hilton Shanghai Hongqiao will maintain and build on its award-winning reputation for excellence in China's second city."

For Mr. Zitnik, the new posting is the pinnacle of his career to date. "Heading a top hotel in the most dynamic city in China offers tremendous opportunities to further demonstrate the Hilton qualities of service and personalized luxury experiences," Mr. Zitnik said. "I very much look forward to taking the Hilton Shanghai Hongqiao to new heights."

Mr. Zitnik's experience in the hospitality industry spans 26 years, mostly in Asia Pacific and China. His most recent appointment was general manager at the Hilton Nanjing, having joined Hilton Worldwide after working with Intercontinental Hotels Group for a decade. Prior to that, he was with Banyan Tree Hotels & Resorts for five years and Hyatt Regency for three years. Mr Zitnik has worked in a variety of roles including front office operations, marketing and general management in Hawaii, Mariana Islands, Guam, Thailand, Philippines, Indonesia and China. During his various stints as General Manager, he played key roles in the opening or rebranding of a total of eight hotels within Asia Pacific.

An American citizen, Mr. Zitnik attended the University of Hawaii and holds a BA Degree in Communications.
