Lookout Mountain Golf Club Takes Aim At Water Conservation

PHOENIX - Pointe Hilton Tapatio Cliffs Resort’s 18-hole championship golf course, Lookout Mountain Golf Club, has recently undergone an environmental transformation focused on achieving optimal water conservation.
Replacing three lakes on the course will be new hazard complexes comprised of bunkers and native desert waste areas. The annual water savings is estimated to be more than ten million gallons.
“The transformation comes at a time when our water costs have increased exponentially in recent years. Not only does replacing these lakes make fiscal sense but it is also an important step in achieving the best sustainability practices for our resort,” said Ron Simon, general manager of Pointe Hilton Tapatio Cliffs Resort. ”Ultimately the transformation is a win-win for golfers as these changes will celebrate the native Sonoran Desert and complement the natural desert layout.”
In addition, Pointe Hilton Tapatio Cliffs Resort announces the promotion of Jeff Raymond from head golf professional to director of golf. Prior to working at Lookout Mountain, Jeff held a similar management position at Aliso Viejo Golf Club in Aliso Viejo, Calif.
Lookout Mountain Golf Club has received the Golf Digest Four Star Award for nine consecutive years and has also been voted as one of the top 450 courses in the country by the same publication. The course is one of the only golf courses in the Phoenix-Scottsdale resort properties area to have golf holes winding through desert preserve without adjacent holes. Twelve holes of the 6,600 yard, par-71 course play through or along preserve land, giving golfers uninterrupted views amidst canyons and rugged mountain hillsides.
