CHICAGO - Beginning April 3, 2014, NextGenJazz, a collaboration between the Jazz Institute of Chicago and The Drake Hotel Chicago, starts a third season of new music and emerging artists. From 7 - 11 p.m. on the first three Thursdays of April, May, June, July, September and October, these performances provide the perfect opportunity to experience some of Chicago's talented young musicians. The series kicks off in April with Kevin Kozol in The Drake Hotel's Palm Court.

The partnership began in 2012 when The Drake approached the Jazz Institute with an idea that would continue to honor Chicago's sprit of local music by providing a venue for remarkable new jazz artists to build a following. The 2014 series introduces a number of new voices.

"The series is stretching the boundaries this year," said Jazz Institue Executive Director, Lauren Deutsch. "With the addition of some Latin sounds by way of Mexico and Peru, expanding the groups from trios to quartets, and the return of Drake favorites Marquis Hill and Katie Ernst, we expect this year to be the most exciting one yet."

Performances are free and open to the public. A complete schedule with artist highlights is listed below. Schedule and artists are subject to change.
