Hilton Hotels & Resorts Joins UAE Date Supplier In Support Of Brand’s Commitment For A ‘Global Approach With A Local Flavour’

DUBAI, U.A.E. and MCLEAN, Va. - Hilton Hotel & Resorts chefs from across the United Arab Emirates have voted local date company Liwa Dates best in class and given them the opportunity to share in 'Breakfast at Hilton,' the refreshed breakfast program designed to make the first meal of the day at Hilton properties worldwide fulfilling, healthy, relevant and accessible to all guests.
The chefs selected Liwa Dates during a visit to the Liwa Date Festival, an ADACH (Abu Dhabi Arts, Culture & Heritage) organised event which is the largest regional event for date growers to showcase their famous local product.
Breakfast at Hilton has evolved to offer guests fresh and healthy dishes prepared with locally sourced and high-quality ingredients. Liwa Dates will be the key ingredient in the new signature breakfast muffins which are baked fresh daily. Breakfast at Hilton offerings also include fulfilling selections such as steel cut oats, house-made granola and fresh seasonal fruit.

"Wherever possible we support local suppliers and seek out ingredients indigenous to the region which is an integral part of our responsibility toward community development and sustainability."
"We generate more than 2,500 breakfasts every day at our UAE properties, so it is very important that we make the right decision for our menus," said Knud Bundgaard, area executive chef, Hilton Worldwide Middle East & Africa. "Our team of chefs took great care in choosing 'the perfect date' for the new muffins and we're confident that Liwa Dates will provide the highest quality product for our guests."
Based in the Western region of Abu Dhabi, Liwa Dates was launched in 2006 and is considered one of the most advanced date suppliers in the UAE as a result of the company's state-of-the-art technical and logistical capabilities. Liwa Dates supports local UAE-based farmers and growers.
"This is a prestigious agreement for Liwa Dates and we're excited about this relationship with such a large, well known hotel company," said Mourad Kamoun, sales manager from Liwa Dates. "The chosen date, called Royal Khalas, is from our premier range and will be the perfect filling for their locally produced muffins."
The new signature muffin will be featured on breakfast menus in more than 10 Hilton Hotels & Resorts properties across the UAE beginning October 2011.
