BATON ROUGE, La. - Colonnade Hospitality, manager of Hilton Baton Rouge Capitol Center, will open the first of its kind Viking Cooking School Outdoors on the pool deck of the 4-diamond hotel this fall.  Colonnade has partnered with Viking Culinary Group, a division of Viking Range Corporation, to create a new outdoor grilling concept that compliments the successful cooking school curriculum existing in over 18 locations around the United States. The Viking Cooking School Outdoors of Baton Rouge will bring together the extraordinary reputation of Viking appliances with the rich culinary heritage of Louisiana. Viking Cooking Schools target an upscale audience with a strong interest in food, wine, travel and entertainment.

The Hilton’s pool deck overlooking the Mississippi River is the perfect location for the new Viking outdoor grilling experience.  In an outdoor pavilion, through engaging demonstrations and intimate hands-on classes ranging from 16-30 people, the Viking Cooking School Outdoors will provide a first class atmosphere for those who love to cook, entertain, or just appreciate the pleasure of great food. Private events can also be held on the pool deck with the Viking Chef Experience.  Convention and meeting groups have the opportunity to upgrade their food and beverage into a Viking Outdoor experience.  Classes are themed such as Girl’s Night Out, Romantic Date Night, and Tailgate Cooking competitions.  “What an incredible way to learn how to smoke, grill, and even bake while enjoying the beautiful views of the river,” says Tina Rance of Colonnade Hospitality. “It’s the perfect getaway weekend with cooking classes, the hotel’s spa, and all that downtown Baton Rouge as to offer," she added.
