With vacation days expiring for many workers at the end of the year, Hilton Hotels & Resorts announces “International Use It or Lose It Week,” a holiday campaign from November 18 – 22, 2013, that encourages working professionals everywhere to use their hard-earned vacation days and enjoy leisure time with friends and family this holiday season. The campaign is part of a larger effort by Hilton Worldwide’s flagship brand to combat “Vacationitis,” defined as an “epidemic creating high levels of stress and claiming countless hours of unused vacation time as it spreads among employees who have not taken enough time off this year.” Patients can seek emergency care, including the chance to win one of 15 weekend getaways, at www.vacationcarecenter.hilton.com.
A new Hilton Hotels & Resorts study reveals that 4.5 million people are losing more than six days of annual leave each year, due to reasons including being worried about losing their job or looking bad in front of their boss. One in 20 even admitted they take just half of the time off they are entitled to, saying that using every day of their annual leave is frowned upon in their workplace. These results show that Britain’s workforce is suffering from Vacationitis – a condition coined earlier this year by Hilton and affecting those who fail to take enough time off from work. Hilton is encouraging employees to check their annual leave balance during “International Use it or Lose it Week”, November 18 – 22, to combat this global epidemic.
Hilton Worldwide today signed an agreement with Pekah Hotels Sdn. Bhd. to manage Hilton Kota Kinabalu in Sabah, Malaysia. The ninth Hilton Worldwide property in Malaysia, the 313-room Hilton Kota Kinabalu will also be the fifth Hilton Hotels & Resorts branded hotel in the country, scheduled to open in 2015.
Hilton Worldwide today announced the introduction of the Hilton Hotels & Resorts brand into New Caledonia with the signing of a franchise agreement with GLP Hotels New Caledonia and the opening of Hilton Noumea La Promenade Residences. Hilton Noumea La Promenade Residences features 154 spacious and modern, self-catering apartments, that offer uninterrupted water views over the New Caledonia lagoon, which is listed as a world heritage site by UNESCO.
Northern New Jersey’s newest Hilton Hotels & Resorts property, the 427-guest room Hilton Meadowlands, is now open at Two Meadowlands Plaza in East Rutherford. The property, which recently completed the first phase of a multi-million dollar renovation, will convert from the Sheraton flag.
