WEST LOTHIAN, Scotland, U.K. - Team members from Hilton Edinburgh Airport swapped sauce pans and chef hats for spades and sawdust as they helped to give the school grounds of Our Lady of Lourdes primary school a much needed makeover. With some landscaping and plenty of TLC, as part of their commitment to the local community, seven members from the hotel got to work straight away in removing broken glass from the grounds, before edging the entire border of the grassy area, weeding it and tidying up the small flower garden. A special area was dug to allow vegetables to grow and 100 new trees were planted around the perimeter fence.

Liam Spillane General Manager at Hilton Edinburgh Airport, said, "We are very passionate about engaging with our local community and when we heard that Our Lady Lourdes Primary needed some assistance in tidying up their school grounds we were only too happy to help. Our community work is an important part of our hospitality philosophy and we're delighted to be able to assist where we can."

Patricia Paterson, Head Teacher at Our Lady of Lourdes Primary School, had a wish list of maintenance work she wanted to be carried out to help rejuvenate the grounds of the school that had recently been fenced off by the Council to stop people from littering and vandalising the area. Patricia said, "I have to say a big thank you for all the hard work put in by members of Hilton Edinburgh Airport. It is so important that the green space within the school grounds is well looked after and maintained and that the children have a safe environment to play in."
